Woodbridge 5 Alarm Warehouse Fire
Fire Fighters Battle 5 Alarm Warehouse Fire
Woodbridge - NJ Fire Fighters were dispatched to a working fire at 9:15 at a warehouse facility in the Keasby section of Woodbridge. The Chief upon arrival had to deal with a large fire fueled by a rupture gas line and a poor water source. Due to the size of the fire mutual aid companies were called in from surrounding areas. Because the structure was also located on the Raritan River marine units were also called in to assist.
The hydrants were not capable of supplying enough water to the operating companies so a tanker task force was used, initially. Before the tanker task forced was finished providing 200,000 gallons of water, FDNY’s Fire Fighter II was put into service. Marine 9, Fire Fighter II , was drafting from the Raritan River and supplied water to all operating companies including the Neptune System. The Neptune system is capable of flowing water 400 feet in distance and using 5,000 gallons a minute.
Mutual aid companies included companies from Monmouth County, Union, New York City and Middlesex County.
