Hillsborough FD Battles Massive Warehouse Fire
The Hillsborough Fire Department may have battlefield one of the largest fires in the department's history. The fire stared at approximately 3:30 at the Somerville Business Park. In addition to battling the blaze that was over 500,000 square feet in size the firefighters were also fighting extreme cold weather conditions, winds and low water pressure. The winds blew burning embers causing spot fires that were fought by firefighters operating in brush trucks. There were firefighters from 30 fire departments, 5 counties with more than 200 pieces of apparatus at this incident. The fire reached 5 alarms. During the firefighting operation 2 firefighters were injured but they are both expected to be OK. There were firefighters operating 24 hours after the initial alarm was sounded.
