Roseland Fire Department's 100th Anniversary Parade
One hundred years ago, on July 23, 1913, forty four men attended a meeting at “Band Hall”. The intent of the meeting was to form a citizen group that would protect the town from fires. They adopted the name "Roseland Volunteer Fire Company" and elected William Chubbuck the first Chief, E.A. Williams Assistant Chief, Oscar DeCamp Treasurer, and Arthur Braunsworth Secretary. All the members present adopted a pledge that read, "We the undersigned citizens of Roseland, pledge ourselves to form a volunteer fire company, without pay, for a period of one year, to protect life and property of the Borough against loss by fire."
Today the Roseland Fire Department consists of over 35 fire fighters. The department also has a cadet program. Members are additionally trained as Emergency Medical Technicians, Haz-Mat Technicians and Technical Rescue Technicians. There are 6 pieces of apparatus along with special apparatus.
